Four Public Golf Courses Worth Walking in Orange County

I play munis weekly. These are four public courses in Orange County worth walking.

Costa Mesa Country Club has two municipal courses, Los Lagos and Mesa Linda. Los Lagos is the longer of the two, a par 72 at 6,547 yards with five par 5s, five par 3s and four lakes in play. Both courses were designed by William F. Bell and Ronald Fream.

Mile Square Golf Course in Fountain Valley has been open for public golf since 1969. It has two 18-hole courses, the Classic and the Players. The Classic was designed by David Rainville and plays 6,817 yards from the back tees at par 72.

San Clemente Municipal Golf Course is the City of San Clemente's course. It is a William P. Bell design, par 72 and 6,435 yards from the blue tees, with ocean views from several holes.

Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach was founded in 1922 and is owned by the City of Huntington Beach. It is another William P. Bell design and the shortest course on this list, a par 70 at 5,609 yards.

On yardage alone, a round at any of these is between three and four miles from tee to green, and the walk between shots and between holes adds to that.

We make the MACAW Golf for rounds like these. The midsole and insole are recycled performance foam with a 1,000 mile cushion rating, and there is little to no break-in period. I walked 157 holes in four days at Bandon Dunes in one pair.

All four courses are open to the public.

Full-grain leather upper. Blumaka midsole and insole, up to 85% recycled performance foam. Vibram Ecostep outsole, 30% recycled rubber. Designed in Costa Mesa, assembled by hand at DMG in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
